Rachel Anderson Temu, who was crowned Miss Africa California U.S.A. for 2007-2008 is now eyeing the Miss Africa U.S.A crown. She is now involved in several activities that carry responsibilities at national and international levels. At the national (Tanzania) level, she is serving as the youth permanent member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). Rachel is currently among the Co-Founders of Tanzania Youth Parliamentary system. She is also the legal affairs head for Equal Opportunities Trust Fund under first lady Mama Anna Mkapa. However, she is advocating the rights for children who are mentally retarded at Sinza Kwanza Special School. In addition, she is the panel member for Tanzania Tourism after she became the 1st Runner up on Miss Arusha 2002.

At the international level, Miss Rachel A. Temu has served in a number of boards and panels including being the Co-Chair for the Black Power Organization in Waverly, Iowa. In 2005, she served as a senator for all the international students in Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. Rachel is an active member of the African Students Association (AFSA) in Arizona, and a board member of the Black Association Coalition (BAC). Also, she is an instructor volunteering on teaching the Swahili language. In addition to all of this, she is the Arizona Face of Africa 2007-2008 and serves as an ambassador for all Africans who live in Arizona. In 2007, she joined United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as volunteer for African nations on promoting education, science, and culture.

Rachel Temu was born February 27th, 1982 in Arusha, Tanzania. Rachel is the sixth and last born child of Mr. Anderson Temu and Mrs. Sion Thomas Ringo. As people say, "Charity Begins at Home". This clarifies why the Temu family is blessed with beauty queens; The first born Edith Temu was first crowned Miss Arusha in 1986, in 1999 the fifth born Hoyce Temu became the Millenium Queen and Miss Tanzania. She participated in the Miss World Pageant where she entered top 20's. The Temu family has been in front lines on supporting each in every movement we make be they political, economic, or social.

Rachel studied at Kaloleni Primary school and graduated in 1995. She joined Makongo High School and completed her Ordinary Level in 1999, and later she completed her Advance Level in 2002. In 2003, Rachel was honored with the Lorrete Ruppe Scholarship and joined Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa pursuing her barchelor's degree in International Relations and Politics. In 2006, Rachel transfered to Arizona State University in which she continues the same major and looks foward to graduating December 2007. Rachel is also looking foward to continuing her education at Master's Program at Arizona State University.
