| Soretti Hubena Ethiopia |

Hello Everyone, my name is Soretti Hubena. I was born on February 13, 1987 in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia and I am from the Oromyia-Showa tribe. The Oromo are an indigenous African ethnic group found in Ethiopia and to a lesser extent in Kenya and Somalia. I come from a family of seven children. My family came to the United States eight years ago. I am a fun, caring, and loving person who takes pleasure in building my life and that of those around me. I am happy when I can make a difference in the lives of others. Ideally, I strive for positive changes in Africa. Coming to America has changed my life and for that, I will always have the need to help others. I attend Columbus State Community College were I major in nursing. After that, I plan on going to a four-year college to finish my major in nursing. My goal is to become caregiver because I have always wanted to help patients, especially children. I want to give them hope and encourage them to look forward into their future. On my free time, I volunteer at a Children’s Hospital. I help with games and serve them meals. The issue close to my heart is lack of medication in Africa. I would
like to see the health medication system improve; innocent children are
dying everyday in Africa because of lack of medication. I like to dance
and listen to music. I have participated in an annual multi-cultural festival
at my high school, where students of different nationalities came together
to show their cultures and customs. I am grateful to be given this opportunity
to compete in a pageant. This experience has taught me how to be strong
and to embrace who I as an African woman. I would like to thank my family,
friends and fans for all the support and encouragement. May God bless
you all.
